Jurassic Period:
The middle period of the Mesozoic Era, lasting from about 190 to 135 million years ago. During the Jurassic , dinosaurs roamed the earth and birds first appeared. The name comes from the many fossils from this period found in the rocks of the Jura mountains of Switzerland and France.
